"Truth is often uncomfortable. It is only comfortable to those who do not wish to ignore it. Then truth becomes not only comforting but inspiring." - Neil Donald Walsh

Do you have a real sense of pleasure and joy in the work that you do, or do you let your material rewards define your sense of success?

Too many of the people I see in the workplace recently are simply functioning, getting through the day, covering their backs and following the company line.

Many of the Board Rooms in the Western World are full of fragmented souls who no longer know who they are and who have lost their purpose. Many of them are weighed down by anxieties and pressure of the recent credit crunch, yet change like never before is in the air.

I see it in the young teenagers at schools and communities across England. I see it in Housing Associations and new funky Micro Businesses emerging from the recession around the world.

My warning to the big Corporates is, get real or die.

Tip of the Month

'How busy you are does not impress anyone except you.'

Three Thought Provoking Company Questions

1. What is your company really about?
2. What five words would you use to describe the company?
3. Where is power being currently mis-used in the organisation?

Three Hard Hitting Questions for Chief Executives 1. Is the company a better place because of your presence?
2. Is the world a better place because of the efforts you exerted?
3. Is the world a better place because you are around?

The PCC Tip

PCC will enable you to reach a good outcome in any situation. I heard about it from a book Norman Drummond wrote.

PCC stands for PACE, CONFIDENCE & CONTROL.

PACE
Take a look at your pace. Are you papering over the cracks of your existence by running around being busy, missing vital information?

CONFIDENCE
What issues get in the way of your confidence? Maybe at times you are over confident, assuming you are always right or maybe you get demoralised easily.

CONTROL
Having control does not mean dictating the outcome, it means being confident enough to anticipate and appreciate the direction in which events are moving.

Five Tips on How to Bring your Real Self to Work
1. Get up 15 minutes earlier and make 'you time' before you go to work.
2. Put people first, connect.
3. Keep your cool; everyone makes a mistake now and again.
4. See the funny side of things.
5. Keep things in proportion.

Five Tips that Happen when you Connect the Head, Heart & Belly Brain at Work
1. You are more flexible.
2. You will be able to approach any situation by seeing the other person's point of view.
3. You will be able to avoid conflict far more often.
4. You will be much more self aware.
5. Your work/life balance will be right.

Four Tips on How to Eradicate Low Performance
1. Have results from each team made visible.
2. Celebrate your people.
3. Celebrate progress often, not just once a year.
4. Have fun prizes for the teams, e.g. Pizza Party or an iPhone.
5. If your people don't meet your minimum, make sure they understand the consequences.
  • A formal warning
  • decrease in pay
  • Further warning
  • Look for another job

So for the month of March, I encourage you to take a look at your pace, bring your real self to work and celebrate you and your team's successes. Blessings Molly Harvey Corporate Soul Woman
